A professional website needs more than attractive pages. It needs to work properly on mobile, be understandable to Google, handle enquiries reliably and give customers confidence in your business.
I don’t charge separately for simple setup jobs that take a few minutes and cost nothing extra. If something is quick, useful and fits my standard setup, I include it wherever it makes sense. If something needs substantial extra work, specialist functionality or a paid service, I explain the cost before you commit.
More included. Fewer unnecessary add-ons. Clear pricing before work starts.
Included with every website package
The Business Workshop Standard
Every website includes the relevant technical essentials needed for that project, using my standard setup, at no additional charge. If something is quick for me to set up, useful to your website and costs nothing extra, I include it wherever possible rather than turning it into another charge.
The Business Workshop Standard covers features that can be delivered using my usual tools and standard process within a reasonable setup time. Some features depend on your existing domain, email provider, website platform or third-party systems. If an ordinarily included item needs significant additional work, a different platform or a paid third-party service, I’ll explain this and agree it with you before any extra cost is incurred.
The Business Workshop Standard
Included with every standard website
The essentials I deliver on every standard website, at no extra charge.
Design and build
Mobile, tablet and desktop design
What I do: I design and build every page so it fits and works on phones, tablets and computers.
Why it matters: Many people will look at your website on their phone first. If it’s awkward to use, they leave.
Included
Basic contact routes
What I do: I set up clear ways to reach you, such as a contact form, tap-to-call, email and social media links, with an obvious next step on every page.
Why it matters: Customers can get in touch in the way that suits them, without hunting for details.
Included
Image optimisation
What I do: I resize and compress your photos so they look sharp but load quickly.
Why it matters: Slow pages lose visitors, especially on mobile data.
Included
Clean web addresses
What I do: Pages get short, readable addresses, such as yourbusiness.co.uk/services.
Why it matters: They’re easier to share and help Google understand each page.
Included
Two rounds of revisions
What I do: You review the website and send me your changes, twice, within the agreed scope.
Why it matters: You get a website you’re happy with, without paying for every tweak.
Included
Foundational SEO
This is foundational SEO: setting your website up correctly so search engines can find and understand it. Ongoing SEO, which works on improving your visibility over time, is a separate service. No reputable provider can guarantee Google rankings.
Page titles and descriptions
What I do: I write a unique title and search-result summary (meta description) for every page.
Why it matters: This is the text people see in Google before they decide whether to click.
Included
Clear heading structure
What I do: Each page gets one main heading, with sub-headings in a sensible order.
Why it matters: It helps visitors scan the page and helps Google understand what each page is about.
Included
Image descriptions (alt text)
What I do: I add short written descriptions to meaningful images.
Why it matters: Search engines and screen readers can’t see pictures, so they read these instead.
Included
Sitemap and Google Search Console
What I do: I create a sitemap (a list of your pages), set up Google Search Console and submit the sitemap to Google.
Why it matters: Google finds your pages sooner, and you can see which searches bring people to your website.
Included
Technical setup and checks
SSL security (HTTPS)
What I do: I make sure your website loads securely, with the padlock in the address bar, on one consistent version of your web address.
Why it matters: Browsers warn visitors away from websites without it.
Included
Browser tab icon (favicon)
What I do: I make a small icon from your logo for browser tabs and bookmarks.
Why it matters: A small detail that makes your website look finished and professional.
Included
Helpful 404 page
What I do: If someone follows a broken or old link, they see a friendly page that points them to the right place.
Why it matters: You keep the visitor instead of losing them at a dead end.
Included
robots.txt file
What I do: I add the small file that tells search engines where your sitemap is and what they may look at.
Why it matters: It’s a basic part of a properly set-up website.
Included
Social sharing previews
What I do: I set the title, description and image that appear when a page is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp.
Why it matters: Shared links look professional and get more clicks.
Included
Basic accessibility checks
What I do: I check readable colour contrast, meaningful alt text, logical headings, labelled forms, keyboard-friendly navigation where practical and readable text on mobile.
Why it matters: More people can use your website comfortably. A full accessibility audit is a paid specialist service.
Included
Basic performance and broken-link checks
What I do: I keep pages lean so they load quickly, and check every link works.
Why it matters: Fast, working pages keep visitors and look professional.
Included
Launch and handover
Launch testing
What I do: Before launch, I test pages, forms and links on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Why it matters: Problems are caught before your customers find them.
Included
Handover
What I do: I give you a short guide to where your domain, hosting, analytics and Search Console live, and any renewals to be aware of.
Why it matters: You stay in control of your own website and know where everything is.
Included
Post-launch checks
What I do: A few days after launch, I check everything is still working on your live web address.
Why it matters: Peace of mind that your new website is doing its job.
Included
The Business Workshop Standard
Included where relevant and suitable
These depend on what your business needs and the systems you already use. I add them at no extra charge where they’re useful for your website and your setup allows it. I won’t add tools you don’t need just because they’re on a list.
Enquiries and trust
Automatic enquiry acknowledgement
What I do: Where your form setup allows it, anyone who sends an enquiry gets an instant email confirming you’ve received it.
Why it matters: Customers know their message arrived, which makes your business feel organised and responsive.
Included where relevant
Form spam protection
What I do: I add hidden spam protection to your forms, suited to the form setup your website uses.
Why it matters: You get real enquiries, not a stream of junk messages.
Included where relevant
Google review link and QR code
What I do: If you have a Google Business Profile, I find your review link, make a QR code and, where suitable, set up a short address such as yourbusiness.co.uk/review.
Why it matters: The easier it is to leave a review, the more reviews you get, and reviews win trust.
Included where relevant
WhatsApp button
What I do: If you have a suitable business number, I add a button that opens a WhatsApp chat with you.
Why it matters: Some customers would much rather message than call or fill in a form.
Included where relevant
Existing booking-link button
What I do: If you already use a booking page, such as a free Calendly account, I add a button linking to it. Configuring a full booking system is a paid add-on.
Why it matters: Customers can book a time straight away, without waiting for a reply.
Included where relevant
Website QR code
What I do: Where it’s useful, I create a simple QR code that opens your website or review page.
Why it matters: Handy for vans, flyers, invoices and shop windows. Designing print artwork around it is a paid extra.
Included where relevant
Google Business Profile linking
What I do: If you already have a Google Business Profile, I link it and your website to each other. Setting up a new profile is a paid extra.
Why it matters: Customers can find you either way, from Google Maps or your website.
Included where relevant
Visibility and analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics
What I do: Where your setup allows it, I set up free, privacy-focused visitor analytics and switch on the weekly summary email.
Why it matters: You can see how many people visit and which pages they view. Cloudflare Web Analytics itself doesn’t use cookies, but other tools you add later, such as advertising trackers or embedded services, may need cookie consent.
Included where relevant
Basic structured data
What I do: I add hidden business details, such as your name, services and the areas you cover, in the format search engines read.
Why it matters: It helps Google understand your business. I only include genuine, accurate details.
Included where relevant
Email and privacy
Free business email forwarding, where suitable
What I do: Where your domain setup allows it, incoming email to a business address such as [email protected] can be forwarded to your existing inbox using a free routing service. Sending email from that address may need your existing email provider, an SMTP service or a paid mailbox such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Why it matters: Customers can contact you at a professional address that matches your website.
Included where relevant
SPF and DMARC configuration
What I do: Where appropriate, I set up these email records for your domain.
Why it matters: They help authenticate your domain, reduce spoofing risk and support deliverability.
Included where relevant
Basic privacy notice setup
What I do: I add a standard privacy notice template, adapted with the information you give me.
Why it matters: Visitors should be told how their personal data is used. You remain responsible for confirming the notice accurately reflects how your business collects and uses personal data. This is not legal advice.
Included where relevant
Basic cookie and privacy statement
What I do: If your website doesn’t use tracking that needs consent, I add any simple cookie and privacy statement it needs as part of the standard setup.
Why it matters: Visitors can see plainly what your website does and doesn’t use. Not every website needs a cookie banner.
Included where relevant
Images
Basic free stock image sourcing
What I do: Where suitable, I find a small number of appropriate royalty-free images for your website.
Why it matters: It helps complete the website when you don’t have enough suitable photography of your own.
Included where relevant
Website refreshes
Redirects for refresh projects
What I do: When page addresses change in a refresh, I redirect up to 10 old addresses to their new pages, after reviewing and backing up your existing site. Larger redirect migrations are quoted separately.
Why it matters: Old links, bookmarks and the search value of your existing pages keep working.
Included where relevant
Not part of The Business Workshop Standard
More complex work takes real time, specialist setup or paid services, so it’s always quoted and agreed separately. This includes:
You only pay extra when there’s genuinely extra work or cost: meaningful extra time, specialist work or a paid service. Add these only if they’re right for your business.

Why it matters: Builds a list of customers you can contact again. The mailing tool may charge separately.

Compliance and accessibility
Cookie consent management
What I do: I set up and test a consent banner and consent controls. This is only needed when a website uses tools that require consent, such as advertising trackers, Meta Pixel, marketing cookies or certain embedded tools.
Why it matters: It’s chargeable because it involves additional setup and testing. Many simple websites don’t need it. Some consent tools charge separately.
From £75
Full accessibility review
What I do: A detailed audit of your website against accessibility guidelines, with the fixes it identifies.
Why it matters: A detailed audit and remediation service that goes beyond the baseline checks already included as standard.

No surprise costs
Your website includes the relevant essential setup needed to get properly online. If you need additional features or marketing support, these can be added at clear, agreed prices.
If something falls outside your chosen package, I’ll explain what’s involved and agree the price with you before doing any additional work. Where something is quick for me to set up and costs nothing, I include it wherever possible rather than charging for unnecessary extras.
Third-party costs you pay directly
Depending on your setup, you may pay other providers for things like your domain renewal (usually yearly), paid business mailboxes, premium plugins, ecommerce or booking platform subscriptions, payment processing fees and image licences. These are always listed in your quote. For most standard websites, hosting can be set up on a free plan; if yours needs paid hosting, I’ll tell you before you commit.
How website projects work
A few simple rules that keep projects fair, on time and free of surprises.
Agreed scope
Before work begins, you get a written scope covering the pages, features, who provides the wording and images, and what’s not included.
Revisions
Two rounds of revisions are included, covering changes within the agreed scope. They don’t include:
completely changing the agreed design direction
replacing large amounts of previously approved content
adding new pages
adding new functionality or integrations
major restructuring after approval
If your requirements change
That’s fine. If your requirements change during the project, I’ll explain any additional work and agree the price with you before carrying it out.
Timescales
Most websites take two to four weeks. The timeline starts once the deposit, the access I need and the agreed content have been supplied.
If content or feedback is delayed, the launch date may move. If a project is inactive for a long time, I may pause it and agree a new start date with you when you’re ready.
Payment is usually a 50% deposit to start, with the balance due before launch. Full details are in my Terms of Business.
