AI Policy

The Business Workshop uses AI tools in some of its work, where they genuinely save time or improve quality. This policy explains how they are used, how client information is protected and what you can expect.

In short: AI is a tool that supports the work. It does not replace the experience, judgement and accountability of the person you are working with.

1. The Business Workshop is not an AI service

The Business Workshop provides practical business support, business improvement and websites. You work directly with Lucy Goffin, and Lucy remains responsible for all work delivered.

AI is used in the same way as other business software, such as spreadsheets, CRM systems or email tools. It is never presented as the service itself.

2. How AI may be used

AI tools may be used to help with tasks such as:

  • drafting and editing documents, templates and website wording
  • summarising information or research
  • organising notes, ideas and action plans
  • building and checking website code
  • suggesting ways to simplify processes or workflows
  • general research and fact-finding, which is then checked

Where it would help your business, AI-based tools or automation may also be recommended as part of a Business MOT or improvement project. Any recommendation will be explained in plain English, and it is always your decision whether to use it.

3. A person checks everything

Anything produced with the help of AI is reviewed, checked and edited by Lucy before it reaches you. This includes checking facts, figures, tone and whether the work is right for your business.

AI tools can make mistakes. Human review is how those mistakes are caught.

4. Protecting client information

Client confidentiality applies to AI tools in exactly the same way as any other part of the work.

  • Client personal data, customer records and confidential business information are not entered into AI tools unless this has been agreed with you first.
  • Where AI tools are used on client work, information is kept to the minimum needed, and names and identifying details are removed where practical.
  • Only reputable business-grade tools are used, and their privacy and data-handling terms are reviewed before use.
  • Where The Business Workshop processes personal data on a client's behalf, AI use follows the data-protection terms in the Terms of Business and the client's instructions.

5. What AI is not used for

  • making decisions about you or your business without human involvement
  • automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on individuals
  • creating testimonials, reviews, case studies or results
  • impersonating real people or businesses
  • replacing the direct working relationship between you and Lucy

6. Websites and written content

Website projects may use AI tools to help write code, draft wording and test layouts. All website content is reviewed and edited before launch, and final content is agreed with you.

Your own logo, photographs and branding are used as supplied. Images of real people are never generated or altered to look like someone else.

Ownership of the finished work is set out in the Terms of Business.

7. Your choice

If you would prefer AI tools not to be used on your work, or on particular information, just say so. Your preference will be respected and recorded, and the work will be carried out without them.

8. Changes to this policy

AI tools and good practice are changing quickly. This policy will be reviewed and updated when the way AI is used changes.
